The Colorado Spruce, AKA “Blue Spruce” is a broad, dense pyramidal tree with stiff, horizontal branches and short stiff needles. Genetic and other factors contribute to a range of “blueness” among Colorado Spruces. Slow growth rate. Prefers full sun. Adaptable to a wide range of soil types but does best in moist well drained soils. Popular as Christmas trees and ornamentals.
