A hardy fast growing tree which grows well in a variety of environmental conditions.   Has an irregular pyramidal shape becoming statelier with age. Branches become spreading and open exposing its majestic orange tinted bark.  This tree is frequently underestimated as a beautiful addition to any landscape. Prefers full sun. Tolerant of a variety of soils, but flourishes in sandier soil.  Often grown for Christmas Trees and ornamentals.
